Mahila Congress to corner BJP Govt. on its `failures'

Chalks out strategy for MP Assembly elections next year


  • Decision to hold a series of zonal and district-level conventions
  • `There is a rampant corruption and atrocities against women in the State'

    BHOPAL: The Madhya Pradesh Mahila Congress has chalked out its strategy for the State Assembly elections next year and would be going all out to the people to apprise them of "failures" of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led State Government.

    Training

    The State Mahila Congress executive met here on Thursday to formulate its strategy keeping in view the State Assembly elections. At this meeting, which was addressed by party general secretary V. Narayansamy, All-India Mahila Congress president Rita Bahuguna Joshi and the Mahila Congress State unit president Shobha Oza, it was decided to hold a series of zonal and district-level conventions as well as training programmes for Mahila Congress workers.

    The State Mahila Congress has decided to reach out to the people to apprise them of the policies and programmes of the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance Government at the Centre and "failures" of the BJP-led State Government.

    Talking to The Hindu, Ms. Oza said the State Mahila Congress would try to apprise the women across the State of the "raw deal" they were getting while the BJP was at the helm of affairs in

    the State. Asked to spell out the State Government's failures, she said there was rampant corruption and atrocities against women.

    The atmosphere of communal amity was being vitiated in Madhya Pradesh, she charged, adding, "We have recently witnessed a series of communal riots at different places in the State."

    Coupons

    Asked to cite examples of corruption, she said there had been massive irregularities in distribution of "below poverty line" coupons and implementation of the employment guarantee scheme.
