BHUBANESWAR: As many as eight legislators of Orissa on Thursday staged a dharna on the Mahatma Gandhi Marg in front of the Assembly seeking withdrawal of a government notification that ordered reduction of reservation percentage for Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC). The legislators belonging to all major political parties also sought a legislation providing 27 per cent reservation in the current monsoon session of the Assembly and to recommend to the Union Government to include the legislation in IX Schedule of the Constitution. The demonstration was organised by the Orissa Backward Classes Youth and Students Front (OBCYSF). The OBCYSF demanded that the government provide Rs. 10 crores for pre and post matriculation scholarships for OBC students.
