HASSAN: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and Hassan district in-charge Minister H.D. Revanna will receive President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam here on Friday. The Chief Minister will leave by helicopter from Bangalore at 10.15 a.m. on Friday and arrive here at 11.15 a.m. Mr. Kumaraswamy will receive the President at the Hassan helipad at 11.35 a.m. From here, they will proceed to the Master Control Facility (MCF) helipad. The Chief Minister will leave Hassan at 2.30 p.m. after the ISRO programme. Minister for Women and Child Welfare H.K. Kumaraswamy will also be present. The police have erected barricades all along the road between MCF and Kala Mandir (8 km) on Halebeed-Hassan road. Addressing presspersons here on Wednesday, Superintendent of Police Panduranga Rane said the police would block the road (between MCF and Kala Bhavan) on Friday, an hour before the arrival of the President. More than 250 scientists from all over India are participating in the historic event that also marks the silver jubilee of MCF. All lodges are full. Accommodation has been arranged at MCF guesthouse as well as in leading hotels in Hassan. Nearly 1,000 police personnel are on security duty. This will be the first visit of the President to Hassan. He will be here for five hours. In October 2006, the President visited Shravanabelagola in Hassan district and participated in the Mahamastakabhisekha of Gomateshwara. For the 472 students, Friday would be a memorable day as they would be interacting with President. The Kala Bhavan, where the interaction would take place, has got a facelift. Governor T.N. Chaturvedi, the former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda and Mr. Revanna will also participate.
