AIADMK demands clarification from CMDA
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI:
The All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam on Thursday asked the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority to explain its stand on the "demolition notice" served on the party.
In a letter to the CMDA's Member Secretary, AIADMK headquarters secretary K.A. Sengottaiyan referred to reports that Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi had stated that the "notice had been sent by mistake."
In view of Mr. Karunanidhi's remark, the AIADMK now wanted to know if the notice issued in Form I under Section 56 read with Section 85 of the Town and Country Planning Act, 1971 was being still insisted upon by the CMDA or whether it stood withdrawn. If no reply was received from the CMDA within two days from the receipt of the letter, it would be presumed that the notice stood withdrawn and repudiated as per the stand taken by the Chief Minister.
