Detained for murdering wife

Staff Reporter

TAMBARAM : A 25-year-old woman was allegedly hacked to death by her husband in Tambaram on Thursday evening.

Kumari bled to death after she was allegedly assaulted by her husband Balamurugan (37) on Kalyan Nagar Third Street, as shocked neighbours witnessed the gory crime.

The couple, residents of Patel Nagar, West Tambaram, were married eight years ago and have a seven-year-old son.

Kumari was a construction worker and Balamurugan a lorry driver.

The couple used to have frequent quarrels. As a result, Kumari had been staying with her parents in nearby Kalyan Nagar for the past couple of months.

According to the police, Balamurugan asked her to return to their house, but Kumari refused.

Enraged, he picked up an `aruval' and allegedly assaulted her.

The residents informed the Tambaram police who, in turn, arrested Balamurugan.
