Man arrested, jewellery recovered

CHENNAI : A 38-year-old man was arrested on charges of burglary and jewellery weighing 300 grams, valued at about Rs 2.50 lakh, was recovered from him.

According to a police press release, following complaints of house breaking and burglaries in the city police limits, Commissioner of Police Letika Saran had formed special teams.

Following this, Ambattur Estate Inspector of Police B Nandakumar and his team intercepted a person identified as Solomon alias Chandru on MTH Road, Ambattur.

After interrogating him, police seized the jewellery. He had allegedly committed the crimes in KK Nagar, Kumaran Nagar, Egmore and Vepery police station limits.

The accused was wanted in many police stations in the city and in Vellore district police in connection with burglaries and robberies, police said.

He had been detained in the past under Goondas Act five times and had come out in January 2007.
