Digambar Kamat is frontrunner in Goa

Panaji: Senior Congress leader and Power Minister Digambar Kamat on Thursday appeared the frontrunner for Goa Chief Minister even as the leadership issue was mired in sharp differences among party MLAs.

The Nationalist Congress Party, a coalition partner of the Congress, said the new Ministry could be sworn in on Friday, with the allies meeting Governor S.C. Jamir and staking claim to form a government.

Mr. Kamat's name came up after opinion among Congress MLAs were divided — whether Chief Minister Pratapsinh Rane should be given another innings or State party chief Ravi Naik should be brought in. — PTI
