Man held on murder charge

NEW DELHI: A 20-year-old man who allegedly abducted a minor boy, murdered him, removed his vital organs and supplied them to a local doctor at Purnia in Bihar in April has been arrested at Mehrauli here.

A police team on patrol duty on Wednesday spotted a young man who tried to flee on seeing them. They overpowered him following a brief chase. During interrogation, he identified himself as Inamul and purportedly confessed to his involvement in the murder of a boy, Parvez Alam, at his native place.

Suicide by woman

NEW DELHI: A 25-year-old woman allegedly hanged herself to death at Hastsal in West Delhi on Wednesday. Her husband has been arrested on charges of harassing her for dowry. Preety Goel had married Pradeep, who owns a grocery shop, about five years ago and has a four-year-old son. On Wednesday evening, Pradeep took her to Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Hospital where she was declared dead on arrival.

He later told the police that Preety was found hanging from the ceiling. Preety's parents alleged that Pradeep used to harass her for dowry.

Jeweller found dead

NEW DELHI: A 43-year-old jeweller allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his New Friends Colony residence here on Thursday. The police suspect that he took the extreme step because of a financial crisis.

Kaushal Rajani went to the bathroom in the morning and allegedly hanged himself. His family members broke open the door around 9 a.m. when there was no response to their repeated knocking. Subsequently the police were called in.

The family members told the police that Kaushal had been suffering from depression for several weeks. He was also an acute asthma patient. The police said he was under tremendous mental stress because of a deep financial crisis.

SSB team scales peaks

NEW DELHI: A Sashatra Seema Bal mountaineering team scaled Mount Jogin I (21,210 ft) on Wednesday and Mount Jogin III (20,065 ft) on Thursday.

The peaks are situated in the Garhwal-Kumaon Himalayas in the Gangotri region of Uttarakhand.
