LBS enters final

HYDERABAD: Lal Bahadur Stadium entered the final of the Gotla Cup football tournament defeating Gymkhana `A' 6-5 via tie-breaker in the semifinal at Gymkhana Grounds here on Friday.

It was Gymkhana which shot into lead in the first session thanks to a self-goal by LBS defender Alphonse who in his attempt to block the advancing striker Mohd Aziz tapped the ball into the net. In the second-half, a 40-yard hit by Alloysius equalised the scores for LBS.

In the tie-breaker, Anant, Aziz, Suresh, Mohd Ali, Kushbush were successful for LBS while, Kevan, Prashanth, Alloysius and Alphonse were on target for the losers.

Akshay in quarterfinals

G. Akshay defeated A. Shrenik Reddy 7-3 in the boys' under-10 pre-quarterfinal of the third Twin Cities mini junior tennis championship at Fateh Maidan Tennis Complex here.

Shubham Sharma defeated A.V. Anish 11-7, 11-2, 11-7, 11-9 in the youth boys' semifinal of the YMCA AP State-ranking table tennis tournament at Narayanaguda YMCA here.

VV Nagar wins

Valluvarnagar recorded a solitary goal victory over JJ Nagar in the semi-final of the Sachdev Sports under-13 football tournament at Trimulgherry Village Grounds here. The match-winner came through Mohan in the first-half.

Youth League posts win

Youth League scored a comfortable 4-0 win over APSRTC in the A-1 Division hockey league championship match at Begumpet Police Stadium here.

At half-time the teams were locked goalless.

George Logun and Krupakaran scored two goals apiece to seal RTC fate.

ATNK & K bags title

ATNK and K area defeated MGG area 25-14, 25-13, 25-17 in the final of the southern command volleyball championship here on Friday. Ten teams took part in the tournament. 31Armd Div area was third and 54 Infantry division was fourth. Brigadier YV Mohan, Commandant 1 EME centre distributed the prizes.
