Indians assured of seven medals

New Delhi: Asian Games bronze medallist Vijender led two more Indian pugilists into the semifinals, as India assured itself of seven medals at the 24th Asian boxing championship in Ulan Bator, Mongolia, on Friday.

Vijender defeated Fara Mostafa of Syria in the 75kg (middleweight) quarterfinal bout as the Indians set themselves up for a memorable finish.

Ajay Kumar outscored Qatar's Khalid Alsadiq in the plus-91kg quarterfinals while flyweight Jitender Kumar beat Indonesia's Bonyx Yusak Sawehom.

Manpreet Singh (91 kg), Diwakar Prasad (57 kg), T.T. Singh (60 kg) and Dinesh (81 kg) were the Indians who lost their quarterfinal bouts.
