Belgaum: The first monsoon showers that lashed the city and several other parts of the district on Friday afternoon, disrupted power supply and also phone services. The city continued to remain dark till 9 p.m. and there was no response from the KPTCL complaint centres. The staff concerned appear to disconnected phones to reject calls from residents enquiring about the power problem. Meanwhile, people welcomed the first showers. Though dark clouds had been playing hide-and-seek for a week, the skies finally opened up . Several low-lying areas were partially inundated .
