NEW DELHI: The All-India Passport Offices' Temporary Group-D Employees' Association has urged the Government to regularise the services of temporary employees. In a memorandum to the Government, the Association said though the temporary employees were inducted into Group D grade, they were doing the jobs of clerks, computer operators and being assigned several other tasks. The Association demanded that the employees be given salaries commensurate with their work. The Association said despite written assurances about regularisation of temporary employees recruited between 1988 and 2003, no steps had been taken in this connection so far."We are entrusted with sensitive tasks pertaining to passports, but are paid the salary of a peon," said a temporary employee.
