Exam for VAO recruitment today

Over 30,000 candidates to appear

Coimbatore: Collector Neeraj Mittal on Saturday said all arrangements were in place for the conduct of examination for the recruitment of Village Administrative Officers here on Sunday.

Mr. Mittal told reporters that 30,551 candidates would be appearing for the examination in 61 centres across the district.

Centres

The examination centres identified were largely educational institutions.

The process of despatching the question-cum-answer papers to the nearest and respective sub-treasuries had been done. Armed guards had been posted there.

From the sub-treasuries, the question papers would be moved to the centres with police escort on Sunday morning.

Chief invigilators, invigilators and revenue assistants would be at the venue in the early hours and the candidates were requested to turn up at least half-an-hour before the examination.

The examination would commence at 10 a.m. and the candidates would not be allowed to leave the centres before 1 p.m. All the question-answer papers both used and unused would be collected and tallied before despatching them, he said.

Hall tickets

Candidates who did not get their hall tickets, but having sufficient proof that they had given their application forms and those with identity proof attested by a gazetted officer would be allowed to take the examination.

Flying squads

Their answer papers would be taken up for evaluation only after verifying their claims and candidature. Twenty-seven flying squads would be conducting surprise checks across the examination centres, he said.

The district has 20 per cent vacancy in the 481 VAO posts.
