NIT counselling begins on June 16

Eligibility based on ranks in AIEEE-2007


  • The only counselling centre in Kerala is NIT-C
  • The counselling programme has two phases

    KOZHIKODE : The counselling for admission to the B.Tech./B.Arch. programmes (2007-08) of the 20 National Institutes of Technology (NITs) for candidates from Kerala, Lakshadweep & Kandive and who have studied abroad having their passport with permanent address in Kerala is scheduled from June 16 to July 13.

    The eligibility for counselling is based on the rank in All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE-2007) conducted by the CBSE. The result of AIEEE 2007 is available at www: cbseresults.nic.in/aieee/ cbseaieee.htm. The only counselling centre in Kerala is the National Institute of Technology, Calicut (NIT-C).

    The counselling procedure is divided into two phases.

    Phase I is Off-Campus On-Line counselling which is scheduled from June 16 to June 25. A candidate has to log on to the website www:ccb.nic.in from anywhere and click `Off-Campus counselling' button on the home page. Login and password prompts will appear on the computer screen. Using the simple instructions given on the screen, candidates may give their choices for which candidates are to enter the login ID and password for which AIEEE 2007 admit card will be required.

    During the counselling phase, a candidate can get the information, including the number of candidates with higher rank who would have already exercised their choices, the number of higher rank holders yet to exercise their choice and current status of branch-wise and institution-wise available seats.

    Phase 11

    Phase II of the counselling is called "On Campus On-line Counselling" and for that the candidates must report at NIT, Calicut, at 8 a.m. on the date as per their All India Rank (AIR) and the CCB Counselling schedule given below. The candidates must bring all original certificates, including Transfer Certificate (TC) to prove the state of eligibility, and a Demand Draft drawn in favour of "CCB, Delhi" payable at Delhi for the required initial deposit of CCB Counselling.

    The initial deposit is Rs.15, 000 for OP/OBC category and Rs.5000 for SC/ST category of candidates. The candidates will have to report next day morning to know the counselling result and get the allotment letter. Counselling in absentia (proxy) will not be allowed even on medical grounds.

    The `On Campus On-Line Schedule' is tentative, the candidates are advised to visit CCB website www.ccb.nic.in on or after June 11 for final schedule.

    A candidate who has been allotted a seat after the main counselling has to take admission (online reporting after main counselling) in the institutions allotted to them on any day between July 3 and July 18 and in any case, on or before July 18.

    Candidates, who have got seat allotment to NIT, Calicut, after the main counselling, can complete the admission formalities on the allotment day itself. The details regarding the fee to be remitted at NIT, Calicut, at the time of admission are available on the website: www. nitc.ac.in.
