Navy responds to Government request

KOCHI: The Southern Naval Command, Kochi, will depute two medical teams to assist health authorities in Kottayam and Idukki districts to contain the outbreak of chikungunya.

Each team will have 15 members, including three doctors and paramedical staff. The navy initiative follows a request from the State Government. The teams will be equipped with required medicines and equipment to treat the patients. They are scheduled to depart from the command by Sunday noon. Southern Naval Command under Commodore S.K. Mohanty, Command Medical Officer, is coordinating the activities from Kochi.
