Kakinada: All arrangements have been made for effective implementation of the intensive pulse polio programme on Sunday, according to district Collector M. Subrahmanyam. He said as many as eight lakh doses of polio vaccine were made ready to immunise 5,75,475 children in the age group of 0-5 years. He said the required cold chain was also arranged at all the mandals. The services of anganwadi workers and women health workers were also being utilised. Of the total 12,000 staff being deployed for effective coverage of all the eligible children, he said 4,050 were anganwadi workers, 2,440 women health workers, 619 community health workers and 3,000 health staff.
Mobile booths
The Collector said that 3,351 polio booths were arranged all over the district, of which 2,110 are in rural areas and 596 in urban areas, 544 in tribal areas. In order to cover even the floating population and those living in temporary habitations in the remote areas, he said, 101 mobile polio booths are arranged. To conduct survey on the eligible children for coverage, he said 4,250 survey teams were being deployed. He said the volunteers would administer the polio vaccine to children at the polio booths on June 10 and the next three days door-to-door survey would be conducted to ensure total coverage of children.
Transit teams
VIZIANAGARAM: District Medical and Health Officer V. Venkateswara Rao said at a press conference on Saturday that arrangements for the intensive pulse polio programme were completed. He said 2.63 lakh children in 0-5 years of age would be covered during the programme. He said 6,400 personnel would man the 1,600 booths. In addition to them 66 mobile teams, 25 transit teams and 170 supervisors were appointed. Those left out would be covered during door-to-door programme on June 11 and 12.
