Jeev to tee off with Americans

New Delhi: The lone Indian in the U.S. Open field, Jeev Milkha Singh, will tee off at the season's second major with Americans Anthony Kim and Dean Wilson.

The three golfers will start their campaign at the Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania on June 14. The par-70 course will present a unique challenge to the best players in the world.

Jeev, ranked 58th in the world at the moment, had a dream run in 2006, winning four titles in different parts of the globe, which took his year-end ranking to 37.

However, after reaching a career high of 36 at the beginning of the year, subsequent disappointing performances have seen a fall in his rankings.

The 21-year-old Kim hails from Dallas, and turned professional only last year. He is ranked 83rd in the world at present.

The Sociology major won his first national event at the age of 13.

Wilson, 37, is comparatively more experienced and turned pro way back in 1992. The star group for the first two rounds will be the threesome of World No. 1 Tiger Woods, defending champion Geoff Ogilvy of Australia and U.S. amateur champion Richie Ramsay of Scotland.
