Arjun Atwal struggles

Memphis : With the fear of missing yet another cut looming large, Arjun Atwal was stranded with four more holes to go as early darkness truncated second round of the Stanford St. Jude Championship.

As many as 26 players were yet to finish their second round and the Indian was struggling at seven-over through 14 holes when darkness stopped play.

Australian Adam Scott topped the leaderboard at seven-under 133 as the cold and gusty wind relented and softened the tricky greens on the 7,239-yard TPC Southwind course.

Kapur withdraws

Plagued by a back injury, Shiv Kapur withdrew from the second round of the BA-CA Open, presented by Telekom Austria, at the Fontana Golf Club here. After shooting 77 in the opening round, Shiv decided to pull out to avoid aggravating the injury.

At Koh Samui (Thailand), Gurbaaz Mann and S.S.P. Chowrasia stayed on course for a top-10 finish as they hung on despite none-too-good third rounds at the Bangkok Airways Open.

Mann shot a one-over par 72 for a total of two-under 211 for three rounds.

Six of the eight Indians in the fray made the cut. While Chowrasia and Mann were tied for 15th, Gaurav Ghei shot an even par round to be tied 22nd.

Rahil Gangjee was tied 29th, while Digvijay Singh (70) was tied 35th and Arjun Singh (73) tied 47th. The two Indians missing the cut were Amandeep Johl (72) and Amardip Malik (77). — Agencies
