CHENNAI: Mudhra Pressings, a supplier of brake system-related components, sub-assemblies, stamped and machined components, has set up a new unit to make fine-blanked components for automotive applications. Fine blanking is an advanced precision stamping process that facilitates production of a component with precise geometry and smooth cut surface without additional secondary operations. Mudhra Fine Blanc Private Ltd., a fully owned subsidiary of Mudhra Pressings, has set up this facility at the SIPCOT Industrial Park at Irungattukottai, near here, in technical collaboration with Feintool Group of Switzerland. The automated factory went on stream on Thursday. Addressing a press conference here, Surojit Mukherjee, Managing Director of Mudhra Fine Blanc, said the investment in the first phase was around Rs. 18 crore. In the first phase, the facility could churn out 20-25 million components a year. "The new plant features presses from Feintool Technology in Switzerland," he said.
