NELLORE: The mop-up Pulse Polio immunisation drive will be conducted on Sunday across the district to arrest the circulation of wild polio virus (P1 strain). As part of the drive, the District Medical and Health Department officials will set up 3,165 Pulse Polio centres in rural areas and 510 in urban areas in the district to administer polio drops to an estimated 3,14,371 children right from a new born baby to those below five-years old.
Follow-up
As many as 16,166 persons would take part in the Pulse Polio campaign, DMHO Dr. B. Satyabala and ADMHO Dr. B. Anand told reporters on Saturday. While the vaccination drive will be carried out through booth activity, the officials will press mobile polio vaccine vans into service to vaccinate more number of children. Moreover, there would be a follow-up on possible leftover cases in the next two days as the Pulse Polio teams will also conduct a door-to-door survey both on Monday and Tuesday to vaccinate the leftout children, health officials added.
