Arun wins

HYDERABAD: M.R. Arun Kumar of Kerala clocked 1m 46.20s in the boys' single scull to clinch the honours in the 10th sub-junior and 12th Challenger rowing championships here on Saturday. Arun warded off a spirited challenge from strong contender Gurpreet Singh of Maharashtra (1m 47.69s). Vikas Manji of Madhya Pradesh finished third in 1:49.31s.

The results: Boys: Single scull: Final: 1. M.R. Arun Kumar (Ker) 1:46.20, 2. Gurpreet Singh (Mah), 3. Vikas Manji (MP).

Coxless pairs: 1. S. Saju Irashanth / P. Nair (Ker) 1:45.87, 2. Chandraveer Singh/ Sambhaji Sapate (Mah), 3. K. Ranapratap/ Ph Wanglen Magang (Man).

Challenger men: Coxless pairs:1. Sukhdev Singh / Sushil Kumar (CoE) 1:32.40, 2. M. Sreejit/ Rajesh Kumar (Kar), 3. Major Singh/ J.V. Khankar (Chd).
