ALL FOR GLORY: An aspirant participating in the first reality show in Berhampur on Saturday.
BERHAMPUR: Youths are over enthusiastic about the first 'Reality Show' in Oriya. More than 500 aspirants from Ganjam, Gajapati and Kandhamal districts thronged the city on Saturday to give their auditions for this reality show `Amari Swara' being produced by ETV Oriya. This show is on the lines of musical reality shows being telecast on other entertainment channels. According to Bapi Jena of ETV it is for the first time such a reality show is being arranged for the young talents of Orissa. The enthusiasm for primary auditions proves that the show would have a good audience, he said. Primary auditions to select the group of singers, who would be given chance on the show to be aired have already been held at places like Balasore, Rourkela, Bolangir, Jeypore with similar response. Youths in the age group of 15 to 30 years were asked to send in the recordings of their songs to the panel of judges. Only shortlisted candidates were called up for audition. But due to pressure of the crowd the organisers had to opt for spot audition of some aspirants on Saturday morning. The auditions of selected candidates continued till night from 9.30 a.m. The enthusiasm of aspirants to reach the small screen through this reality show could be assessed from the fact that the candidates included many who had travelled long distances for the audition. There were many physically challenged youths participating in the event to prove they are no less than others. Biswajit Sahu of Baliguda had travelled more than 200 km to take part in it.
Carnival time
Sivani Mohanty felt it was a rare chance for her to make her voice heard throughout the state. It was a carnival time at the venue as aspirants got together in groups to kill time through singing while awaiting for their chance for audition before camera. Many aspirants, however, had a complaint that the judges did not give them long patient hearing. As the list was long the judges surely did finish up with candidates within a minute, whom they did not find suitable for the final rounds of the show.
