Action plan not prepared to use funds properly: Dharam Singh

GULBARGA: Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly N. Dharam Singh on Saturday charged the State Government with derailing Union Government-sponsored schemes including the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) and the Prime Minister's package announced to the State for ameliorating problems of farmers and preventing suicides.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Singh said the State Government had not shown any interest in implementing these programmes as credit for development would go to the UPA government. Mr. Singh said the State Government had not prepared an action plan or released its share for the Prime Minister's package . Out of Rs. 2,680 crore allotted to the State under the Prime Minister's package for farmers, the Union Government had released Rs. 361 crore to the State but the State Government had not prepared an action plan .

He accused the State Government of doing nothing to prevent suicides by farmers in different parts of the State. After the present Government took charge more than 172 farmers had committed suicide and in Bidar district alone more than 45 farmers had committed suicide.

Mr. Singh wanted to know what the result of the Grama Vastavya by the Chief Minister in 33 villages was so far .
