NGO provides free iceboxes to women fish vendors

Nagapattinam: Human Trust, a non-governmental organisation, engaged in formation and strengthening of fisher women livelihood groups, on Friday distributed iceboxes to 162 women fish vendors of Thirumullaivasal and Olakottaimedu in Sirkazhi taluk to ensure sustainable livelihood for headload women fish vendors.

M. Panneerselvam, MLA of Sirkazhi, who presided over the function organised by the Human Trust at Sirkazhi, distributed the iceboxes to women fish vendors.

According to Rajlet Mani, Project Officer of Human Trust, each icebox costing Rs.1,480 was provided free of cost to women fish vendors identified by the Human Trust.

A.S. Beena, programme manager of Human Trust, said that the trust's major activities included supply of bicycles with iceboxes, enabling Fisher Women Livelihood Sangam (FWLS) to access timely and affordable credit through Fisher Women Livelihood Micro Credit Desk, etc.
