IGNOU admission process begins

NEW DELHI: Indira Gandhi National Open University has opened admissions to its graduation and post-graduation programmes for the new session beginning July.

The Master's degree programme includes Master of Science in Dietetics and Food Service Management, Master of Arts in English, Hindi, History and Political Science; and M. Com. in Public Administration, Sociology, Economics, Rural Development, Library and Information Science and Tourism Management. The Bachelor's degree programme includes Bachelor of Art, Commerce, Science, Tourism Studies, Library and Information Science and Social Work.

The last date for submitting filled out forms at the regional centres is July 31.

`Sheila claim false'

NEW DELHI: The Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Jagdish Mukhi, on Saturday said all claims of Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit about improvement in power situation had proved to be false.

In a statement, he said several areas in and around Uttam Nagar and Chanakya Place in West Delhi were facing power cuts lasting six to 12 hours.

New PNB director

NEW DELHI: J. M. Garg has taken over as executive director of Punjab National Bank. The bank so far had only one executive director, K. Raghuraman.

Earlier Mr. Garg was general manager with the Indian Bank. Having joined the Indian Bank in 1973 as a probationary officer, he worked on several portfolios.
