Pulse Polio

The second phase Pulse Polio immunization programme will be inaugurated by Mayor Mallika Begum at the Urban Health Centre on the Bhavanipuram Flood Bank at 7.30 a.m.

District Collector Navin Mittal, Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal, Deputy Mayor Anne Prasanna will also administer oral polio vaccine to children at this centre.

Power shutdown

Power will be shut down to enable electricity department personnel to conduct a pre-monsoon inspection from 7 am to 12 noon on Monday for areas in Gandhinagar section.

The areas affected are King Ice Factory area, Gulabithota, Punnaiah colony, Durgapuram, Baajipet 4th and 5th lines, and Sambamurthy Road.

Awareness camp

Various measures needed to protect one-self from contracting infections that spread during rainy season were explained at the weekly health awareness camp held at Vasavya Nursing Home. Dr Maru said people were vulnerable to cold, cough and fever in the rainy season. Taking steps to protect the drinking water from becoming contaminated would prevent spread of infections she said.
