Vocational rehabilitation training

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu branch of the National Association for the Blind will conduct vocational rehabilitation training classes for visually challenged persons from June 18 on its Madhavaram premises. Training in areas such as music, operation of computers and telephone operation will be given. Classes will be held on all weekdays between 9.45 a.m. and 5.45 p.m. Free boarding and lodging will be provided for visually challenged persons from Tamil Nadu.

Schools heads transferred

Heads of Chennai Corporation High and Higher Secondary schools received transfer orders after a counselling session on Saturday. Mayor M. Subramanian handed over the orders to 166 heads of schools. On June 16, counselling-based transfers will be given to schoolteachers, including physical trainers and craft teachers, according to a press release.

Book bank to help

poor students

Sri Sumati Vishal Jain Book Bank proposes to help underprivileged engineering and computer science students. The applications for the students are available at 12, Rameswaran Road, T. Free uniforms and notebooks

Tamil People Social Service Centre will distribute free uniforms and notebooks to underprivileged children of Jaigopal Garodia School and Corporation School on Sunday at 3.30 p.m. at Second Street, AVM Colony, Virugambakkam. Training programme

The Juvenile Guidance Bureau, a voluntary organisation, conducted a four-day training programme on `Life Skills Training for Health Promotion', in association with Tamil Nadu AIDS Control Society. The programme, which concluded on Saturday, was aimed at training trainers to teach the children ways of improving self-awareness, self-esteem, social skills, communication, assertiveness, decision making, problem solving and anger management.

EFSI website launched

The Employers' Federation of Southern India (EFSI) launched its website — www.efsi.org — recently. Information on seminars, meetings and workshops organised by EFSI will be available on the site.

It was launched by J.N. Amrolia, Executive Director (HR), Ashok Leyland.
