HYDEABAD: Union Minister for Rural Development Raghuvansh Prasad Singh has assured former Minister Bashiruddin Babukhan that the Government would not lag behind in its efforts to implement minority welfare programmes. Responding to Mr. Babukhan's letter recently, Mr. Singh said that his Ministry was implementing poverty alleviation programmes through wage employment, self-employment and creating rural infrastructure. Under the Swarna Jayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana, Sampoorna Grameen Rozgar Yojana, and Indira Awas Yojana, 15 per cent of the resources had been earmarked for the minorities. State-wise targets had been fixed and guidelines had also been issued for the distribution of district level, block and village level, keeping the minority population in view. The implementation of the programmes would be monitored with reference to targets.
