HYDERABAD: Gopalapuram police on Saturday arrested a gang of five persons hailing from Prakasam district allegedly for trying to exchange a fake dollar note for Indian currency at Rathifile bus stop in Secunderabad. The arrested persons P. Prasad Naidu, K. Srinivas, D. Venkat Rao, Bapu and K. Shivanarayana were remanded in judicial custody. According to police, Naidu stumbled upon a piece of paper akin to US dollar at a temple in his village Kandukuru. He hatched a plot with four of his friends to make money by exchanging the fake dollar for Indian currency. They came to the city a couple of days ago and were trying to lure gullible persons into purchasing the `dollar' claiming it was worth a crore of rupees. An unidentified person tipped the police about the movement of the gang. The Gopalapuram police spread out a net for the gang and caught them at the bus stop while trying to sell the fake dollar.
