Plea to release

bonus arrears

KOCHI: Cochin Port Pensioners' Association president P.M. Mohammed Hanish has protested against the non-payment of bonus arrears to retired employees of the Cochin Port Trust. He demanded in a release here that the authorities should take steps to distribute the arrears at the earliest. — Staff Reporter

Convention of catechism teachers

KOCHI: The Department of Catechetics, Archdiocese of Varappuzha, will hold a convention of catechism teachers in the city on Sunday. The convention will be inaugurated at the Pappali Hall at 2 p.m. by Alexander Jacob, Director of the Kerala Police Academy. — Staff Reporter

Kochi: Federal Bank chairman M Venugopalan released a book `Banking and Financial Services' penned jointly by A Justin Paul and Padmalatha Suresh of IIM Indore and Kozhikode respectively. The book has foreword by the former RBI Governor C Rangarajan. — Staff Reporter

Flights rescheduled

KOCHI: Air India Express (flight number 451) that is to leave at 07.35 a.m. on Sunday will leave only at 6 p.m. on the Kochi-Abu Dhabi sector. Air India Express (No. 435), which is to leave at 9.05 p.m. on Sunday will leave only at 5 a.m. on Monday on the Kochi-Dubai sector. — Staff Reporter

Probe sought

KOCHI: The Kerala Gazetted Officers' Union has demanded a comprehensive inquiry into the suicide of Kannur RTO. A communication from the union claimed here that this was the first time that an official resorted to suicide on account of being harassed through transfers. The union claimed that after the Left Democratic Front Government came into power officials were being transferred without any humanitarian considerations. — Staff Reporter
