Report on tourism in Fort Kochi

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: A sub-committee under the chairmanship of the Collector has been formed to draw up a detailed report on tourism development in Fort Kochi, in the wake of the ongoing anti-encroachment drive. The committee had been asked to submit report within a week, Fisheries Minister S. Sarma told reporters here.

He said that care would be taken to ensure that the anti-encroachment drive in Fort Kochi did not hamper the fishing sector.

Mattancherry MLA Ibrahim Kunju and Corporation councillors are also members of the sub-committee.

Mr. Sarma said that some undesired constructions had been detected in Fort Kochi in the guise of tourism promotion. He said that steps would be taken to remove these illegal structures.
