Thiruvananthapuram: The Government Railway Police have commenced inquiry to trace Santhosh, 18, who allegedly jumped out of the 1082 Kanniyakumari-Mumbai CST Jayanthi Janata Express near Thoppil bridge between Kadakavur and Chirayinkeezh railway stations on Saturday. The Kadakavur police, personnel of the Kerala Fire and Rescue Services and locals carried out search operations in Vamanapuram river for Santhosh, a native of Neyyattinkara. According to the police, the incident took place around 8.30 a.m. after the Jayanthi Janatha Express left Chirayinkeezh railway station. Santosh, who was travelling with an `invalid' season ticket was held by a six-member flying squad of Travelling Ticket Examiner's (TTEs) from Chennai. Incidentally, two friends of Santhosh who were with him had valid tickets up to Kollam. The squad handed the youth to the RPF personnel, who in turn handed him over to TTE Kader Hussain. Santhosh allegedly pushed Mr. Hussain and jumped from the moving train near Thoppil bridge.
Train held up
Some commuters alleged that the TTE had manhandled and pushed Santhosh from the moving train. This lead to commotion in the coach and the train was held up at Kadakkavur railway station for more than one hour.
TTEs manhandled
The commuters also manhandled the TTEs and they sustained injuries. The police had to intervene to release the TTEs. The Jayanthi Janata Express later left from Kadakkavur at 10 a.m. The Kadakkavur police registered a case for man missing on the basis of the statement of Santhosh's friends. The case was later transferred to the railway police. The police have also registered a case against 15 persons in connection with the assault of the TTEs. Enquiries revealed that Santhosh had not reached his house at Neyyattinkara. The search operations will commence on Sunday. Meanwhile, the Southern Railway has said the some commuters' version that the youth was pushed out of train was `totally incorrect and false'.
