Zakir Khan wins air pistol gold

NEW DELHI: Zakir Khan shot the air pistol gold in the Meeting of Shooting Hopes international championship at Plzen, Czech Republic, on Saturday.

After a 579 out of 600 in the preliminary phase, Zakir made the final with a four-point lead over Olivier Gilquin of France. Eventually, he beat the French lad by 4.8 points for the gold after the final in which he shot the best with a 99.7.

The Indian trio of Zakir, Amit Kumar and Kapil Tomar won the team gold in air pistol, with similar authority as they had done in capturing the free pistol gold.
