Ludhiana: Raninder Singh, son of former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, appeared before the Vigilance Bureau sleuths here on Sunday in connection with the Ludhiana City Centre scam probe. Raninder, who arrived at the Bureau office here with his mother and Lok Sabha MP Preneet Kaur, was accompanied by a lawyer when he went to appear before the sleuths. Ms. Kaur alleged that the Parkash Singh Badal led SAD-BJP alliance government was indulging in political vendetta against Amarinder and family. She told reporters that the previous Congress government had adopted a proper procedure in investigation of the corruption case against Mr. Badal and others, including his family members, by seeking directions of the Court in the matter. ``They are out to humiliate my family members.'' About 300 Congress workers, most of them from Patiala, the home town of Mr. Singh, raised slogans against the Badal government and in support of Mr. Singh outside the Vigilance Bureau office here.
Mr. Singh and 18 others were booked by the Bureau on March 18, three weeks after his bete noire and Akali Dal leader Parkash Singh Badal assumed power in the State, for alleged corruption and cheating
Raninder and Raminder Singh, brother-in-law of Amarinder Singh, had secured bail form the High Court on the ground that his entire family was being implicated in the case on the statement of an accused Chetan Gupta, a Delhi businessman, arrested by the Vigilance Bureau in connection with the case. -- PTI
