Struggle panel dharna

HYDERABAD: The State Unemployed Struggle Committee is organising a dharna here on June 14 demanding postings to 21,000 teachers who were selected under the DSC-2006.

R. Krishnaiah, president, in a statement here on Sunday urged the Government to announce the list of selected candidates and implement Supreme Court orders on the issue. - Special Correspondent

PRTU plea on GO 610

HYDERABAD: The AP Progressive Recognised Teachers' Union has suggested to the Government, while implementing GO 610, to give preference to those who voluntarily offer to go to their native districts.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, union leaders P. Venkat Reddy, R.Ravi Kiran and teacher-MLC B. Mohan Reddy wanted the administration to repatriate the surplus non-locals. - Special Correspondent

Judicial probe sought

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Paschim unit of Bajrang Dal has sought a judicial enquiry by a sitting Supreme Court judge into allegations levelled against evangelist K.A. Paul.

In a statement here on Sunday, Dal leaders T.S. Murari, P. Pratap and G. Ramesh wanted immediate arrest of Dr. Paul, branding him a `bogus' preacher and scrapping of his organisation, Global Peace. - Special Correspondent

Common power bills

HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Central Power Distribution Company Ltd has said it has integrated the bills pertaining to domestic and agricultural connections into a common bill in the case of those using agricultural pump sets, with a view to serving the consumers easily. In a release here on Sunday, APCPDCL stated said every agricultural consumer would have to pay Rs. 20 per month for each service towards customer charges for using free power to the pump sets. The bills were served once in six months which came to Rs. 120 per bill (half year). - Special Correspondent

Lightning kills two

Khammam: Lightning claimed the lives of two persons at different places in Khammam on Sunday. According to reports a housewife Boda Kanshi (32) died on the spot after she was struck by lightning in Gaddikunta Tanda of Khammam urban mandal. In another incident, a youth Ramesh died when he was struck by lightning in Vararamachandrapuram village. - Staff Reporter

Five killed as car plunges into stream

KADAPA: Five persons met with a watery grave when a car hit a parapet wall of a bridge and plunged into a stream at Obulavaripalle crossroads in Kadapa district on Sunday night. Three adults and two children were killed in the accident. However, their identity is yet to be known. — Staff Reporter

YSR lays stone for NAC building

Kadapa: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy laid foundation stone for a Rs. 10-crore National Academy of Construction (NAC) building of the Pulivendula branch. He laid stone for a Rs. 14.40 crore CPWS scheme too. Earlier, he addressed ZPTC members at Pulivendula R&B guesthouse and received representations from people seeking grant of houses and pensions. He left for his estates at Idupulapaya for a night halt.

Kakinada: The 40 days summer training classes for artistes - Kalaparichayam-organised jointly by the Andhra Pradesh State Department of Cultural Affairs and various Music and dance institutions in the district, concluded here last night.

Blood storage centre inaugurated

Srikakulam: A blood storage centre, second of its kind in the district, was inaugurated by the ZP chairman, Palavalasa Rajasekharam at the Area Hospital in Palakonda on Sunday. The first blood storage centre was inaugurated at Pathapatnam recently.

Rajahmundry: The Trust Board of oldest temple - Sri Uma Markandeya Swami Devasthanam- took charge here on Sunday under the Chairmanship of Runkani Venkateswara Rao.
