NIZAMABAD: The United Teachers' Federation has suggested the Government to fill vacant teacher posts on an ad hoc basis with the candidates selected through the DSC-2006 by taking permission from the Supreme Court as the case regarding the service rules was sub judice. Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, the UTF State general secretary N. Narayana said over 60,000 teacher posts lying vacant in different schools in the State. Even if 21,000 candidates selected in the DSC were given appointment orders there would be a huge requirement of teachers. The Government was resorting to dilatory tactics by postponing the recruitment of teachers in the name of Central clearance for service rules. Therefore, the candidates have been waiting for postings even eight months after the results were announced. Pointing to the reported statement of School Education Minister C. Damodar Rajanarsimha that the Supreme Court will hear the case in September, he said even if it was assumed that the apex court would give judgement in that month how much time would it take to recruit teachers. Mr. Narayana said lack of teachers and inordinate delay in supply of textbooks to students would mar the current academic year.
Agitation
In this backdrop, the UTF in association with teacher recruits, parents and students would launch an agitation in the third week of June to bring pressure on the Government to fill vacant teacher posts and supply textbooks immediately, he said.
`Scrap GO 399'
Adilabad Staff Reporter adds: Adilabad MP T. Madhusudan Reddy belonging to Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) on Sunday demanded scrapping of GO 399 and implementation of GO 610 in letter and spirit. He said the TRS was going to take to agitational programmes in the near future towards these demands. He told reporters that 300 TRS workers would stage a symbolic protest on June 12 sporting flowers in their ears. The activists would also submit a memorandum to the Collector on that day.
