NIZAMABAD: The District Congress Committee has advised the Bharatiya Janata Party not to politicise the stabbing incidents in Kamareddy town and desist from levelling baseless allegations against Minister for Power and Minority Welfare Mohammad Ali Shabbir. At a press conference here on Sunday, DCC president Gadugu Gangadhar said Mr. Shabbir Ali, as the MLA from Kamareddy was more concerned about the violent incidents in his constituency than the BJP leaders. It was not proper on the part of the BJP to hold the Minister responsible for the incidents just because of his religion. Mr. Shabbir Ali, a senior Congress leader had come up in political life the hard way.
`Secular credentials'
He had good secular credentials and had secured the highest majority in the 2004 elections and which showed the love and admiration the people of Kamareddy had for him, Mr. Gangadhar said. Strongly condemning the incidents, he said the BJP was not acting as a responsible political party. If it continued to provoke people to tarnish the image of the Minister and the Congress, it would have to pay dearly, he warned. The DCC president urged the State Government and the district police machinery to act stringently against the miscreants and ensure severe punishment to them. He called upon the Superintendent of Police to intensify the efforts to arrest the accused.
