KARIMNAGAR: Minister for Endowments J. Ratnakara Rao on Sunday formally launched the Pulse Polio Immunisation Programme by administering polio vaccine to children at the primary health centre in Butti Rajaram colony in Karimnagar town. Collector M.V. Satyanarayana, ZP Chairman A. Mohan, Karimnagar Mayor D. Shankar, Markfed Chairman Ponnam Prabhakar, KDCCB Chairman K. Ravinder Rao, DM&HO Subadra, Karimnagar Municipal Commissioner G. Rami Reddy and others were also present. The district medical and health department made all arrangements to administer polio vaccine to children in the age group of 0 to 5 years by deploying 11,360 medical personnel and opening 2,840 polio vaccine centres in the district. Adilabad staff reporter writes: The three-day immunisation campaign started at the urban health centre Khursheednagar. Administering polio drops to children, In-charge Collector A. Dinakar Babu said children need protection against the crippling disease in order to build a healthy society. District Medical and Health Officer S. Vignanachary and others were also present.
