TAMBARAM : A woman was found murdered inside the Nanmangalam Reserve Forest near Tambaram on Sunday. The body was noticed on Sunday morning by residents of Sembakkam who ventured into the forest. They called up the city police control room, who, in turn, informed personnel in the Selaiyur station. The Selaiyur police found the body of the woman, around 35 years old, in a decomposed stage. The body wrapped in a sheet was lying in a ditch. Empty liquor bottles and cigarette packets, playing cards and disposable plastic tumblers, were seen near the spot where the body was found. A pair of slippers, reportedly worn by the victim, was also found nearby. They suspect the death to have taken place on Friday or even a day earlier. As news spread, several residents of Sembakkam and Nanmangalam came to the spot in an attempt to identify the victim. However, till late on Sunday evening, the police were unable to establish her identity. The body was found about 200 metres inside the forest area from the road separating the forest boundary and residential localities of Sembakkam and Nanmangalam. After preliminary investigations, the police concluded that it was a clear case of murder.
