Staff Reporter

The deceased, Mohammad Talib, used to run a teashop

NEW DELHI: A 27-year-old man has been arrested for his alleged involvement in the murder of a young teashop owner at Seelampur here last month. The main accused in the case has already been arrested.

The police on the night of May 25 received a distress call about an incident of firing at Seelampur. As the reached the spot, they found a 19-year-old man lying dead inside a teashop, with a gunshot injury in the back of his neck. The deceased was identified as Mohammad Talib, a permanent resident of Bihar.

Enquiries revealed that Talib had been running the teashop for the past four months.

Investigations led the police to zero in on two suspects, Shane Alam and Sadakin, residents of the same locality.

Acting on a tip-off that Sadakin would come at the Seelampur Metro station, the police laid a trap and detained him on Friday. During interrogation, he purportedly disclosed that his friend Shane shot dead Talib. Subsequently, he was arrested for assisting the main accused, Shane, who has already been arrested by the Kamla Market police.

Sadakin purportedly revealed that Shane has a liking for different types of firearms. On May 27 when he and Sadakin went to Talib's teashop, Shane was carrying a .32 bore revolver. He brandished the revolver in the teashop showing it to Sadakin. Talib objected to it stating that such an act would affect his business. This led to a heated exchange between the two parties, following which Shane allegedly shot Talib from close range. He and Sadakin then fled from the scene.
