dated June 12, 1957: Reopening of schools

The Madras Government have decided to issue instructions to managements of all educational institutions in Madras city not to reopen them before July 1, in view of the prevalence of influenza in epidemic form. The restrictions at present in force in respect of cinema shows, namely, that there shall be no shows in the mornings or afternoons, and that evening shows should not commence before 7 p.m. shall also remain in force until July 1. Mr. C. Subramaniam, Minister in charge of Education, told pressmen in Madras on June 11 that these restrictions need not interfere with the work of admissions to the institutions.
