Setback for over 50 primary schools
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE:
The Karnataka High Court on Monday vacated the stay on derecognition of over 50 primary schools.
The schools had challenged their derecognition and a single judge on May 30, 2007, stayed the order of the Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI) and asked the schools to file affidavits undertaking to teach in Kannada from this year. More than 50 primary schools, in their affidavits, said they had been teaching in English because of pressure from parents. When the matter up Justice Rammohan Reddy said he had asked the schools to file affidavits if they wanted the interim order against derecognition. He said the affidavits were not in compliance with the court orderand vacated the interim order.
