PERAMBALUR: A time-bound schedule has been drawn up for executing the Jayamkondam Lingite Power Project, in consultation with the Neyveli Lignite Corporation, the executing agency. A 16-point schedule has been drawn up for expediting the execution of the project in consultation with various Central and State Government departments and field-study groups. The schedule specifies that the feasibility report and the Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) and the Environment Management Project (EMP) be completed by November this year. It has been planned to obtain the clearance of the Ministry of Civil Aviation by January next. A public hearing is likely in January. The Union Ministry of Environment and Forests will give approval for the project by May 2008. The clearance from the Public Investment Board is anticipated by June 2008. The approval by the Parliamentary Committee on Economic Affairs is expected by July 2008. Officials of the Neyveli Lignite Corporation, led by Chief General Manager (Mine Planning) R. Surendra Mohan, held discussions with Collector Anil Meshram here on Monday. The Collector said the EIA and EMP would be conducted by M/s Minmee Consultancy Private Limited.
