Bangalore: The Board of Control for Cricket in India treasurer, N. Srinivasan, announced on Monday the issue of fresh player contracts would be resolved soon. "The BCCI had constituted a committee to discuss and finalise the player contracts and I am happy to announce that we have had very fruitful discussions with the players here today and some of the points would be discussed at the working committee tomorrow and we are all confident that all issues with regard to `player contracts' will be resolved and that the contract will be finalised immediately thereafter," Mr. Srinivasan said.
Private matter
He also reiterated that the negotiations were an internal matter and were not a matter for discussion in the public domain. "There is no question of `player demands', this is a matter between the Board and the players. The players and the Board are not two different entities and it is a purely internal matter and this is not a matter to be discussed in public and it has to be private between the Board and the players and we are confident that the contracts will be finalised within a few days."
Fruitful discussions
Skipper Rahul Dravid who was also present at the media briefing along with Sachin Tendulkar and Anil Kumble, echoed similar views. "We have had fruitful discussions with the Board and Mr. Srinivasan has said that it will be discussed with the working committee and we hope that we would be able to sign our contracts soon," was all that Dravid would say before leaving the venue. Earlier in the afternoon, the BCCI's committee consisting of Mr. Srinivasan, vice-president Shashank Manohar, former president I.S. Bindra along with chief administrative officer Prof. Ratnakar Shetty and secretary Niranjan Shah met the senior quartet of Dravid, Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Kumble. The discussions were prolonged and went over an hour while Ganguly left a bit earlier as he had a flight to catch to Kolkata.
