BANGALORE: Top Indian amateur golfers, except Joseph Chakola, will take part in the season opener of the LG Indian Amateur Golf Tour at the Eagleton Golf Resort between June 12 and 15. Top ranked Anirban Lahiri, Jasjeet Singh, Simarjeet Singh, Gagan Verma, Tarun Ghogale, Vikram Rana, Raj Randhawa, H.S. Kang and S. Bahuguna will compete with 52 others or the title over the next four days.
Change in yardage
The resort has seen a change in 13 of its 18 tee boxes as it has extended the yardage to 7088 yards to make it a truly challenging championship course. The tee boxes have been strategically placed and the fairways narrowed to make the course more difficult to master. Last year the tournament was won by Gaganjeet Bhullar with a score of 17 and most of the amateurs, who played the practice round on Monday, felt that the scores could be higher now and predicted a six-under 282 final round score.
Chakola misses out
Chakola will miss the first event (and maybe more) of the tour because he is preparing to depart for Italy for a coaching stint. Amanjyot Singh, the winner of the Sunfeast Coimbatore Junior event, and Chikkarangappa, the winner of two junior events in Bangalore in two age categories, would also be a part of the line-up.
