HYDERABAD: Grandmaster Koneru Humpy, World No. 2, will be leaving for a European tour to play in two International open tournaments HSG Open from June 20 to 28 at Hilversum (Netherlands) and Kaupthing Open (July 7 to 14) at Differdange (Luxembourg). Humpy said here on Monday that the HSG Open should be one of the toughest events she had ever participated as about 80 players from all over the world including GMs Mikheil Mchedlishvili (Georgia), Erik van den Doel (Leiden), Stelios Halkias (Greece), Normunds Miezis (Latvia), Yge Visser (Groningen) and Karel van der Weide (Amsterdam) would be in the fray. Incidentally, the ONGC officer will be the third-seed in the HSG Open. The former World junior champion also said that she was invited to take part in the Luxembourg by the Differdange Chess Club `Le Cavalier' and is expected to be the star attraction of simultaneous exhibition matches against 25 opponents from cultural and political life, taking place the evening before the event gets off. Some of the big names who have confirmed participation in the Luxembourg Open include Gahimov Vugar (Azerbaijan), Laznicka Viktor (Czech), Malakhatko Vadim (Belarus), Kritz Leonid (Germany), Schlosser Phillip (Germany). "Essentially, these events should help me a long way in realising the ultimate dream of becoming a Super Grandmaster," said Humpy. "I have decided to continue with my father as coach as I don't think I need any foreign coach," she said.
