NEW DELHI: Ronjan Sodhi missed out on a medal by one point and could not get near the solitary Olympic quota place as well in the double trap event in the shotgun World Cup at Lonato, Italy, on Monday. The 27-year-old Ronjan who had won the bronze medal in the World Cup at Santo Domingo, shot 186 out of 200 to be placed fourth in a field of 67 marksmen. Ronjan was second at the end of the qualifying series with a career-best 141 out of 150, one point behind Joshua Richmond of the US. The American grabbed the gold and the Olympic quota following a brilliant 49 out of 50 in the final. Ronjan could only muster a 45 in the final after having shot 48, 48 and 45 in the preliminary phase. With only two of the six finalists having the Olympic quota place, the pressure was very much on the other four to come up with the best. The results: Double trap: 1. Joshua Richmond (US) 191 (142); 2. Vitaly Fokeev (Rus) 188 (140); 3. Daniele Di Spigno (Ita) 187 (139); 4. Ronjan Sodhi 186 (141); 23. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore 134; 32. Moraad Ali Khan 132.
