NEW DELHI: Claiming that two-dozen deaths have take place in the Capital due to the heat this summer, Delhi BJP president Harsh Vardhan on Monday demanded that the Government provide adequate compensation to the families of all the victims. "The Delhi Government should have made adequate arrangements to face the difficulties arising out of the summer season. This is the Capital of India. The whole world has its eyes on any incident here. The image of India has been tarnished due to two-dozen deaths from intense heat in Delhi," he said. Dr. Vardhan said: "there is no power, water, shelter from heat and adequate medical facilities for Delhi's citizens and nothing has been done by the Government under the announced summer action plan". The Government has not made arrangements for additional power or water. On the water front, the situation is equally bad as 60 per cent of drinking water is lost in theft and leakage," he added.
