CHANDIGARH: The Delhi-Mumbai National Industrial Corridor would immensely benefit Haryana in accelerating its pace of economic development, Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary (Industries) P. K. Chaudhery told a visiting 19-member Spanish business delegation headed by the Director of the Council for Foreign Promotion D. Jose Gracia-Morales here on Tuesday. The members of the Spanish delegation are associated with Confederacion Espanola De Organizaciones Empresariales (CEOE) in Spain which is similar to the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in India. Elaborating on the Delhi-Mumbai National Industrial Corridor, Mr. Chaudhery said that the total investment in infrastructure development for this corridor would primarily come from Japanese companies. As the northern region of the country is away from the major ports, this corridor would provide connectivity and link this area with ports of Gujarat and Maharashtra. Huge industrial townships and special economic zones would also come up in the corridor, he added. The area around the national Capital would be the biggest urbanised area in 2023 with a huge economic workforce of 60 million people, he added. The Haryana Government is taking steps to provide Metro railway connectivity to all the major towns including Gurgaon, Faridabad and Bahadurgarh and a six-lane expressway by-passing Delhi is being constructed.
