Award for environmental management research

K. Govindarajalu

COIMBATORE: The Government of Tamil Nadu has given K. Govindarajalu, Reader in Economics, and NSS Programme Officer of CBM College, Kovaipudur, the third prize at the State-level for environmental management research.

Mr. Govindarajalu received the prize from Suba Thangavelan, Minister for housing and Slum Clearance Board, at a function held in Ramanathapuram recently.

The prize was in recognition of his activities to increase environmental awareness; research works in the areas of environmental economics and research publications.

Mr. Govindarajalu has been appointed the District Co-ordinator for National Green Corps (NGC) by the Department of Environment, Government of Tamil Nadu. NGC is an organisation for environmental education and awareness for school children. He has also worked on major research projects of the State Government.

The prize carried a purse of Rs. 5,000 and a citation.
